This is an email update from my Polish friend, Sara, who serves with Josiah Venture as a missionary in Poland. May her stories strengthen your faith, encourage you to pray, and give you ideas for how to bless others during this time. ---------------------------- Update on Ukraine Our hearts are breaking for our neighbors. Russian forces invade Ukraine and we hear the terrible news about civilians being killed, preschools and hospitals being shelled. Over 0,8 million people have already fled Ukraine. 0,5 million refugees arrived in Poland. Others are fleeing to Czech, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary. These are some dark days in Eastern Europe. But in the middle of this, I can see sparks of light. Two Ukrainians repenting and giving their lives to Jesus during a night in a bomb shelter. There are Christians, who decided to stay in attacked cities and are sharing Good News in the middle of a war. Other Christians are assisting refugees in fleeing. Many are opening their houses. EVERYONE in Poland is helping!! School gyms, churches and conference centers are changed in refugee centers. Bus drivers are driving refugees for free. Restaurants and shops are donating food. Companies are donating mattresses and blankets. Medics are sending medications and first aid stuff to Ukrainian hospitals. Volunteers are cooking, helping, providing clothes, baby trolleys, diapers and all that is needed. Seeing all of this, I am moved. And with tears I will tell you: I am proud to be Polish. How can you join in?
